create a new DWORD item and name it NoDrives (it is case sensitive).
Now modify it's value and set it to 3FFFFFF (Hexadecimal) .

An abstract data type (ADT) is a data type that is organized in such a way that the specification of the objects and the specification of the operations on the objects is separated from the represented of the objects and the implementation of the operations.

A data type for which only the properties of the data and the operations to be performed on the data are specified, without concern for how the data will be represented or how the operations will be implemented.

The term means much the same as interface but is used particularly when specifying data

Introducing HTML

@HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language, and it is the most widely used language to write Web Pages. As its name suggests, HTML is a markup language.

@Hypertext refers to the way in which Web pages (HTML documents) are linked together. When you click a link in a Web page, you are using hypertext.

@Markup Language describes how HTML works. With a markup language, you simply "mark up" a text document with tags that tell a Web browser how to structure it to display.

@Originally, HTML was developed with the intent of defining the structure of documents like headings, paragraphs, lists, and so forth to facilitate the sharing of scientific information between researchers.

@All you need to do to use HTML is to learn what type of markup to use to get the results you want.

What is MEMORY

A personal computer must have a means of storing information (data) and instructions so that it can perform processing tasks on the data. Personal computers have two types of memory. These are discussed below.

>> Read Only Memory (ROM) <<

ROM is a small area of permanent memory that provides startup instructions when the computer is turned on. You can not store any data in ROM. The instructions in ROM are set by the manufacturer and cannot be changed by the user. The last instruction in ROM directs the computer to load the operating system.

Every computer needs an operating system. This is a special computer program that must be loaded into memory as soon as the computer is turned on. Its purpose is to translate your instructions in English into Binary so that the computer can understand your instructions. The operating system also translates the results generated by your computer into English when it is finished so that we can understand and use the results. The operating system comes with a computer.

>> Random Access Memory (RAM) <<

This is the area of memory where data and program instructions are stored while the computer is in operation. This is temporary memory. NOTE: The data stored in RAM is lost forever when the power is turned off. For this reason it is very important that you save your work before turning off your computer. This is why we have peripheral storage devices like your computer’s hard disk and floppy diskettes.

>> Permanent Memory (Auxiliary Storage) <<

Your files are stored in permanent memory only when saved to your disk in a: drive or saved to your computer's hard disk,
Drive c: In the Floyd College labs, you can also save your work to a network drive. We will discuss this in class.

Difference between “int main()” and “int main(void)” in C/C++?

Take a look on following definitions of main().

int main()
/* */
return 0;

int main(void)
/* */
return 0;

Did you see any difference?

In C++, there is no difference, both are same.

Both definitions work in C also, but the second definition with void is considered technically better as it clearly specifies that main can only be called without any parameter.

In C, if a function signature doesn't specify any argument, it means that the function can be called with any number of parameters or without any parameters. For example, try to compile and run following two C programs (remember to save your files as .c). Note the difference between two signatures of fun().

// Program 1 (Compiles and runs fine in C, but not in C++)
void fun() { }
int main(void)
fun(10, "TCP");
return 0;

The above program compiles and runs fine (See this), but the following program fails in compilation (see this)

// Program 2 (Fails in compilation in both C and C++)
void fun(void) { }
int main(void)
fun(10, "TCP");
return 0;

Unlike C, in C++, both of the above programs fails in compilation. In C++, both fun() and fun(void) are same.

So the difference is, in C, int main() can be called with any number of arguments, but int main(void) can only be called without any argument. Although it doesn’t make any difference most of the times, using “int main(void)” is a recommended practice in C.
